Nicolás Sánchez Noa (b. 1990, Havana, Cuba) is a visual artist, educator, and curator based in Leipzig. He studied sculpture at the Experimental Center for Fine Arts “José Antonio Díaz Peláez” and the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, and earned a Diplom in Fine Arts from ISA, Universidad de las Artes, Havana. In 2026, he completed an M.A. in Digital Media at the University of the Arts Bremen and the University of Bremen. He taught Contemporary Sculpture at San Alejandro from 2014 to 2019 and later taught in ISA’s New Media Department, where he served as co-head in 2023 and remains an associate member and lecturer.

His practice combines within tridimentinality, hybridated installation, signal transmitions, electronics, and interactivity. Through fabricated objects, spatial interventions, and reactive media systems, he examines and questions, postcolonial appropriation, institutional legitimacy, power, and the political use of historical narratives. His recent project, Tales of the Triumphant, investigates the symbolic incorporation of Indigenous identity into Cuban national and technological narratives.

Sánchez Noa has participated in five editions of the Havana Biennial, from 2009 to 2021, and has exhibited in Cuba, Germany, and the United States. His awards include an Honorable Mention at the 2026 Digital Media Graduation Festival, DAAD scholarships, the DAAD-STIBET Scholarship, and a Vermont Studio Center Artist’s Grant.
